A law has come into effect in Russia, banning almost all casinos and gambling house. The Russian government says the measure will contain the growing number of gambling addicts. Casino owners say more than a third of a million people have been thrown out of work and argue that the highly profitable gambling industry will be pushed under crime underground into the hands of criminals. Gambling will now be confined to four remote parts of Russia.

Officials say a near an area search has located one of the flight recorders from the Yemeni-operated Airbus which crashed off the Comoros Islands islands in the India Indian Ocean early on Tuesday. Only one person has been rescued, a teenage girl. Will Ross reports.

As efforts to retrieve the inflight in-flight recorders continue, details have emerged how a 14-year-old girl , Bahia Bakari , survived the aircrashair crash. On Monday, she traveled travelled with her mother from their home in France to visit relatives in the Comoros Islandsislands. Following the night time night-time crash, without a life jacket and bearly barely able to swim, Bahia Bakari clung onto a piece of debris from the plane for several hours.
